PRACTICAL ARRANGEMENTS

Special recommendations:



  • The weather in Croatia in June can be quite hot but also chilling. Prepare for temperatures between 20 and - 28 degrees. To check the exact temperatures for Makarska (and any other place in the Croatia), visit http://meteo.hr/index_en.php
  • There is a half-day trip planned (rafting) and we will have to carry food and water with us, so it would be handy to bring small travelling bag. Sandals, nylon t-shirt, swimming suit,... under lifejacket needed. Remember extra clothes as you will get wet!
  • The location of the youth exchange is situated near the sea - and the stay can be a challenging experience, therefore participants should be equipped with: sunscreen, sunglasses, swimming suit,atc.Other must not forget items are slippers, towels, shampoo, shower gel, diving equipment...

Currency
Exchange Euros-Sterling is usually 7 Croatian Kuna (HRK)

Important!
In case of allergies, special health needs, illnesses, vegetarians or any other special notes in your team – please let us know in advance!
Do not forget to bring passport, identification card, student card (e.g. ISIC), health insurance card Please, bring a national flag if you can !!!

PRACTICAL ARRANGEMENTS

Accommodation:
Groups will be sharing tents with up-to 4 -5 other people. The groups will be not mixed, each country will have their own tent.
do not forget your bed linen or sleeping bag!

 
Hygiene: shared bathrooms and toilets.

Catering:
provided 3-times a day. Dishes are prepared by Hotel Alem and served directly in the hotel (5 mins from the camp)



  • Breakfasts – continental. Consist of tea, bread + additive (varies each day - butter, marmelade, sausages, cheese, fish spread, vegetables,...)
  • Lunch and dinner – dishes based on pork, chicken or beef meet, potatoes, pasta, rice and vegetable.
First meal: 11. 6. 2011 – dinner at 06.00 pm
Last meal: 18. 6. 2011 – lunch at 01.00 pm + „small take away“

Some information about place:
  • hotel restaurant, small supermarket, postal/information/exchange office and sport feasibilities (basketball, small futball, volleyball, ping-pong) available in the camp
  • surrounded by pine trees. Nevertheless, climate is hot and wet, please mind enough water!
  • pebble beach, please mind the sea urchins
  • located at the foot of mountain Biokovo - beautiful panorama but dangerous to visit! Suitable shoes needed.
 
Electricity, internet:
There will be additional electricity supplied to the campground. It will be possible to run an electrical appliances and items like laptops and phones within the campground. There is not wifi connection in the campground, the one possible way how to get to wireless is to go to Baska Voda, situated 20 mins from Basko Polje camp. There are free wi-fi restaurants.
 

Attention: Please, do not bring expensive, valuable things (like gold, special rings, family/national heritage, too expensive camera,...) – unless really neccessary. Nobody will be responsible for it but you.

PRACTICAL ARRANGEMENTS

Travel

All participants will meet on 11th June 2011, 9:00 – 11:00 a.m directly in Baško Polje camp, Croatia.


And how to get there?
  • By bus, by train from home to the venue of the project and return: Please, use of the cheapest means and fares (economy class, 2nd class train ticket).

  • By car: You can use car transportation. But for the transportation with your car, we can refund you the equivalent of a train/bus ticket, second class and only for 1 person! It would be better if you rent a car and bring an invoice, because this is only the one way how can we pay you the all money you spent.

  • By bus from Bratislava to the venue of the project and return: There is common bus from Bratislava prepared for groups Slovakia, Romania, Czech republic and Croatia that leaves from TRNAVSKÉ MÝTO, Bratislava on 10th June 2011 at 6pm  and arrives back to TRNAVSKÉ MÝTO, Bratislava on 19th June 2011 at 7am. The bus will be in Zahreb on 11th June between 1 – 2 am prepared to collect group from Croatia.
     


Trnavské Mýto is situated 4 minutes from Central Bratislava Trainstation:
There are buses and trolley numbers 74, 61, 201 or 63going to Trnavské Mýto.
Make sure you buy a ticket from the machines before boarding the bus/trolley (The ticket is 0,5 EUR)

  • By plane to Viena airport: Vienna airport is situated 60 kilometers from Bratislava (Slovak Republic). For those coming by plain to Viena airport there are the Vienna Airport Lines buses going to Bratislava every 1 hour (journey time - 50 minutes). The ticket is 8 EUR.   • By plane to Split/Zahreb airport:
    Basko Polje is well accessible. Ride a bus line Split (Zahreb)
    Makarska and ask to bus driver while buying tickets, if he can stop directly by the camp Basko polje. The ticket from Split to Basko Polje is cca 70 HRK. To find the exact times for your bus check http://www.promet-makarska.hr/Polasci_iz_Splita.htm
    After Croatia border crossing text or call +421 911 253 733 (directly to the place of the youth exchange, there will be ) When you entry to the camp Baško Polje, look or ask for AMAVET – is situated up the hill.

Advanced planning visit

Projekt
Basko Polje 1.6. - 3.6.2011
The meeting’s goal is to ensure that all the necessary requirements are taken into consideration in order to guarantee the successful development of the project. The duration of the APV will be 3 days (travel days included), and it will be monitored by 2 leaders per each group.

The preparation meeting is of crucial importance for the success of our Youth Exchange. During this phase, the group leaders will agree on the common theme and the agenda of the Youth Exchange. We will reflect on , profile of participants , learning goals of the youth exchange, division of tasks, programme of activities, working methods, practical arrangements (venue, transfers, accommodations, support material, linguistic support).

WHAT YOU NEED TO PREPARE FOR THE ADVANCED PLANNING VISIT:
  1. Describe your group (provide information about your group, what is their age, gender, level of English, what they got out of this youth exchange, their needs, they expectations, they learning goals, who will (besides them) benefit from this youth exchange and in what way? With seting the learning plan can help you our questionnaire which you can find on our common blog http://helpeutick.blogspot.com/ in the section The learning needs analysis. Ask your participants to fill the questionnaire in, gather the information and sort it into categories that help you identify themes/topics that need to be addressed.
  2. Prepare a topic of the day. Each national group will pick a topic, which would like to discuss with the others and during morning activities/programm will try to involve others into it.This way all participants have opportunity to facilitate the activities themselves, including an evaluation at the end of the programme. Regarding with the topic, please, complie ideas for your own country’s one-day programme (approx. 3 hours long) which will be introduced to the others.
    • Prepare a draft plan of your activities which you want to introduce to the group (you can choose topics from daily program which you already have or you can bring your own activities.)
    • Please include your topical requirements that all participants can discuss and the reasons/benefits that this topic generates.
    • Please include how you wish to demonstrate this activity –  by means of discussion, role-playing, games or visits, brainstorming, etc...
    • Include how you think your activity will benefit the other participants.
    • Create evaluative processes that will fully engage learners and provide you with the feedback that you want and that you will be able to use.
    • All activities will be collected and shared between all participants as a learning materials and a good examples of techniques of non formal leaning realised in this youth exchange.
  3. Pack’ your ideas for how to promote the project, how to pass our signal (newspaper) to other young people and competent persons in each country and bring them with you

A learning needs analysis:
Providing information about your participant group
Identifying where participants are in terms of their knowledge, skills and competencies, versus where they wish to be - what are their learning goals.
Identify clearly what participants wish to achieve, what skills/knowledge/competencies they need to develope.


Day 2
Morning
Setting up the Programme activities - regarding with the participant needs we will establish the most suitable activities of the programme.
We will outline what results can be expected and if/how these can be measured
Tasks for partner organisations
The division of tasks between the partner organisations, planning and allocation of responsibilities for the remainder of the programme
Discussing other options in the surrounding view of the planned activities, any change
of venue for certain activities)

Promoting the project
And researching new ideas for methods to increase project publicity

Health and safety of participants
Discuss measures to ensure all participants abide with all health and safety regulations, also to list emergency telephone numbers and all emergancy plans. Decide on all rules and regulations concerning use of alcohol and/or drugs

Stuff to Bring


Here you find information on what to bring with you:
  • One notebook per one group which can be used for creating the newspaper.
  • Suitable shoes and clothes for moving outdoor - our motto is: bad whether does not exist, just bad clothes. The weather in Croatia in June can be quite hot but also chilling …
  • There is a half-day trip planned (rafting) and we will have to carry food and water with us, so it would be handy to bring small ruck-sack, sandals. Nylon t-shirt and swimming suit under lifejacket needed.
  • Remember extra clothes as you will get wet!
  • Bed linen or sleeping bag, towels
  • Swimmsuit, sunscreen, sunglasses
  • Think a bit about your country and its typical feature. What's Seven Wonders of your country from your point of view? Bring one or two with you if you can!
  • Some CD of tipycal music from your country
  • Some typical costumes from your country or some typical things that you can wear
    (hat, bracelets, scarf etc…)
    and......some good mood and energy :D
